I have never developed a syllabus
The syllabus that I have seen, the career school put together, but it's good to know what needs to be included on onw.
Kim,
I think you will be able to so you can adjust the supplied syllabus as needed or create an addendum to the syllabus should you feel that you need to personalize the information some more for your course.

The school where I teach puts the syllabus together. After taking this course, I hope to provide better insight into the current syllabus.
I have never developed a syllabus either. My school provides one and I have only been teaching for 8 months. Now that I have taken this course I am thinking about how I can contribute to our syllabus and enhance it. I definitely have opinions on how to improve it.
James,
Yes it is a refinement process because you learn each time you teach the course what you want to include, change or modify in your syllabus. Before long you will have a syllabus that you are proud to share with your students.

Cathey,
Also, now that you have idea about what needs to be included in a syllabus you can customize the one your school put together and have it cover exactly the points you want to make with your students.

It takes some time and practice to develop a good syllabus. It's importnat to include course objectives and a calendar of class meetings and assignment descriptions and due dates in addition to basic instructor contact innformation.
