I try to let my students know they can have a safe and comfortable learning environment without giving any indication that I am an "easy" Instructor. Starting out hard and then easing up ,in my opinion, does not earn respect from the students.

I always start my class of very stern because if you start out easy they will walk all over you its always easy to start out hard and easy up as the class progresses but its almost impossible to start easy and get hard as far as rule inforcement.

I have found that at first you can't help but be nervous. But as time goes on and you are in your comfort zone that it gets alot easier
