it doesn't matter if you start or the end of class, in every one need to show them your knowledge, skills, friendship,the serious personality, how important is this career, etc...and only you have to give them at 15 minutes every day...this time is enough to creat the right enviroment or not in your whole course...

I like this approach as well. It helps get the students settled in and ready for the class that day. In addition, it gives me additional insight into where they are coming from and the pulse of the class.

I always start the day with the friendly stuff, I have them share stories from the weekend or anything that is happening. Usually this self-limits itself to about 15 minutes, but I feel it brings the class together as a group and helps them feel more welcome.
