A successful first day in class
Keep students motivated especially if they are night students.
Keeping the students engaged the entire night class can be a challenge at times. But, I have found if I change things up quite often it keeps thier attention. Bringing in the competitive edge to a course that may not seem like it would be there has help like playing different games to assist them in retaining the information.

Right you are. I teach night students and have to work extra hard to keep them engaged throughout the evening. They have worked hard all day and then have class for 6 hours. That is tough but they are dedicated and know that education has to be a part of their future.

Night students can be a little harder to motivate because life seems to be a common excuse for missing class. Therefore, I let them know how valuable each day is and the consequences to their education and future careers.
