Study Helps for Students

When getting ready to teach a new class, I print off a list of study aids that will help the students be successful with assignments, quizzes, exams, lab work and in class discussions. Every time I teach a class the students are very grateful for the study helps. I make sure the students know that they can e-mail or call me with any question that they have. Every student understands that I will help them understand the material but the student does their part. It is always a two way street.

Hi Karina,
Great way to provide student support and encouragement to and for your students. I know they are motivated knowing they have tutoring available when needed.

I have tutoring time between my classes 12pm to 1pm and 5pm to 6pm 4 times a week so I can offer help before and after class time

Hi Sheree,
This is a media form of guided notes and I think this method is very effective. It keeps the students engaged and focused on you and the information you are sharing.

I have a power point presnetation that I purposely leave out key sentences or words in, so that the students must write in the missing sections. Then I will put these fill-in-the-blank sections on the test.

Hi James,
Great idea. This support method shows the students the steps to success in your course if they are willing to put forth the effort. I know this really helps the students to get settled into the course and feeling confident about their abilities.
