check list

This section had some good practical info for that "first" day of class. In some ways, I think that some of the order for doing things is a little arbitrary however. Overall, though, this is good important info to master. In particular, I like the idea of having a checklist. I often write up a quick check list of procedural things, content/key concepts, and technical points that I want to make sure I cover before each class. This way I stay on track.

Roxsie,
Glad you benefited from the course content. I have been teaching for many years and I still use a check list to make sure I plan, prepare and deliver everything I need to for the course.

I really like the idea of having a check list for the first day of class. I am new to teaching and I know this will be very helpful when I begin my next new class. Thanks for sharing this great info.

Shonna,
Thank you for sharing the advantages of using a notebook to keep the instructional process flowing. With so many different demands on our time and focus we, instructors need to keep some type of record of what we plan to do, have done and are wanting to do.

I love the idea of having an ongoing checklist that flows from day to day for the course in which is being taught. I think this really helps keep ideas in order as well as last minute supplies that might be dwindling during the course. I also find that having a checklist shows our students that it is a great organizing tools. If they happen to see us write things on our checklist, they might find that note taking / checklist writing is very beneficial. I often make a checklist on the board with ideas and thoughts that the students throw out. Even adding additional material that they are suggesting may help with their course. Great topic to discuss Jay. ~Shonna

Hi Jay,
Good points about starting a new class. The items suggested in the course are intended to be a guide for instructors so they can adjust the order of activities or sequence in anyway that will work for the students and themselves.
