Your Way

Even though we have learned some valuable tools in this course, I believe in making your first day presentation your own mix. You should be very relaxed in the flow of your introduction to the course and flexible in case any questions arise and change your set checklist.

Denise,
So true. When an instructor is prepared and organized it is so much easier to get the class started with confidence.

Yes, I agree. Being relaxed only can come from being prepared and practised on what it is your are trying to convey to the subjects.

Joyce,
Having a supportive atmosphere in a comfortable setting goes a long way in helping students get settled into a course. You have a good approach to your classroom based upon your comments.

I see the value in having a checklist for sure. I also agree that having a relaxed flow is important as we get to know each other as well as the course content. Not only is this a time to establish the core reasons why we are there, but its a time to excite students about learning.

I agree to have a checklist but be flexible, like you said Frances, because of unexpected things that may occur.
