notecard activities

creating a notecard activity where the students write about themselves gives you a nice learning fact about the student and saves them from having to speak in front of the class if they're nervous on the first day.

Karen,
You will like the results you get from this form of feedback. I have used this method for a number of years with very good results.

I like the notecard idea. I can review the information later to help me relate to students or understand their challenges or obtstacles.

I really lkie this method. I ahve the students write a fact about them we would not know. They don't put their name on the card. The instructor dows one too. The I read the cards and we all guess who the student is. Once we know who the student is, it generally opens up for discussion.

Great idea! I actually took notes myself on first day discussions with students. I think the notecards is a much better approach to keeping them actively involved.

Juan,
Good strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I do note card activites for our clinical classes and it has really helped students retain more.

Darin,
It sure does. Plus, I collect them so I can review them before the next class meeting and learn even more about my new students.
