New ice breakers
I really like to use ice breakers, but I feel as though I'm always using the same ones. Does anyone have examples of ice breakers they have had success with?
Tamika,
This is a great strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us. I know it will be of value to other instructors working on getting to know their students better.

A favorite of mine is the following:
1. Have all students record their name on index cards
2. Collect the cards and arrange them on a table or desk (face down)
3. Have students take turns selecting the cards and placing them in front of that particular student. This will help with name-face recognition
Kat,
There are a number of websites that list different ice breakers for instructors to use. I would look at community college sites that list ice breakers because they have a lot of them that fit into different situations. I am a big fan of ice breakers as they help to get a new course off to a good start and the students settled into the course.
