Alden,
Thank you for the online search idea. I am a new instructor and am also trying to come up with some new ideas for breaking the ice on the first day.
I have used one that the students seem to enjoy, and it gets them out of their seats and talking to one another. It's basically a scavenger hunt that involves a list of personal attributes that requires them to go around the classroom and find people that meet the requirement. For example, "find a person that speaks more than two languages," "find a person that has the same initials you do," "find someone who was born in February," etc.
Alden,
Thanks for the resource. I know it will be of help to other instructors looking for Ice Breakers.

There are many Ice Breakers that are fun. One easy way to find them is on the internet, under Ice Breakers.
I try to use ice breakers on the first day but have a difficult time finding ones - can someone expand on some new ideas that don't make people uncomfortable
ArRecozell,
Not sure what you are talking about in your comment. Can you expand on it?

not exactly sure what you mean by 'game form' but I like to use various ice breakers from a book I purchased while working as a corporate trainer; Games Trainers Play.
