Introducing yourself effectively

On your introduction among other things you probably want students to get a sense of your qualifications for teaching the course, how formal/informal you want to be, and how available you will be to the students

An effective instructor will introduce themselves to the students on the very first day. This introduction should include your educational and work background along with varying skills that may pertain to the classroom. It is important that students understand your qualifications not so they can look up to you but rather to gain an understanding of how you can assist them in successfully completing the course which will then assist them in their future careers.

Greg,
This part of starting a new course is very important because you are establishing yourself as the learning leader so you need to share information that will support your position as well as set the tone for how the course is going to be conducted.

when you introduce yourself to the class.you should explain a little about yourself and your level of expertise as to why you are a good fit to be teaching the course and help the students feel confident that they are receiving a high quality of instruction.
