First Class
First impressions of the instructor are so important for class.
What are some ways you've found to start class off on the right foot.
I agree will Francis, Letting the students ask questions on any of the courses in their trade they came to learn lets them know that as an instructor we are here for them and that we have knowledge in our trade and are willing to teach and share all we have as instructors.
FRANCIS,
Yes, they will and learning should be fun. Your approach is helping them to see the value of the content being offered as well as enjoying the process of learning about.

have intro information about the course on the white board. Let the students ask questions about any part of the course that they might have questions. If your initial response is uplifting it's like you gave them a secret answer. Sometimes you can see their reaction. Take the fear out of learning. Make it fun. The students will enjoy your class and WANT to come to school!
JOHN,
Good way to help the students get settled into the course and becoming familiar with you as a learning leader.

I introduce myself and joke around with the newbees.
This lets them know I'm not stiff and that they can approach me if they have questions or concerns.
Ty,
Be organized, be early, and be friendly. Start off with fund introductions and then do an ice breaker. Get the students to share a laugh with each other and get settled in comfortably and the course will proceed just as you want it to.
