My subject matter does not allow for much hands-on type experiences, so during the lectures I like to vary my class exercises from being ones that are in the book, a worksheet, or even just do the exercise aloud as a whole group. Am I helping my tactile students this way? I also try to do an exercise every 15 to 20 minutes just for general alertness as well as trying to help my tactile students.
Hi Pamela,
That is very common with career college students. They like the tactile aspects of acquiring knowledge and skills in their field. Once you get them engaged in the hands on aspects of learning you can introduce the knowledge components that they need. They will see the applications that can be made with what they are learning. Great start!

I find that a lot of students are more visual and do excel at a hands on task, rather than a reading assignment or a written test.
Hope that works for you, good idea.
Hi Renee,
Hope you have much success with them. Let me know how they work out for you.

I am very excited to try some of these demonstration techniques in the lab.
