I am a newcomer to this learning system. This is really great material...very helpful. I am also completely new to the forum experience. If there are any tips out there, I'd be greatful if you'd share.

You are right on with your perception. Students are looking for relevancy and application. Instruction needs to be planned around these two words. The hands on approach helps them retain the knowledge and develop the skills required.

I am also new to this, i feel from the short priod of time teaching, students have been more receptive with practicals and hands on work. Lecture with hands on training really gives the students a feel of whats being taught.
I agree with the last post. These forums are a great way to network and get ideas from other instructors. I work in the fashion field and it is hard to paint a picture since the field is so hands on.
In the past I have found these forums to be hugely helpful. Often times I will go online with specific questions but it is difficult to get specific answers. This forum, since it is tailored for people with common concerns will prove very helpful.

The course material is closely related to the Certified Hospitality Educators material which is a godsend to chef instructors. Im not sure of the specific area of your instructional expertise, howver, these modules closely resemble activities and course work required for many online universities and their students. Well designed and organized, the flow is user friendly. Enjoy!
