If an instructor understands the course goal objectives and the content. he will be able to have more flexibility in its instructional delivery and will be able to connect with students in a more effective way.
You also need to be genuinely interested in what you are teaching, that will show during your class. If you are interested, students will respect that, if you are bored - they will be bored as well.

You are correct about the common sense part, but you would be amazed at how many instructors aren't using the information or are not aware of it. Yes, it is good for all of us to stop and refresh so we can keep our skills at a high level.

this course has alot of common sense information that most instructors already utilize. a refresher is beneficial in some cases, I guess.
