A new way teaching

With new technologies, how a can an instructor stay ahead of the students?

I try to stay current by working in the field, reading and the PC really helps. I receive frequent newsletters and emails with up to date research and reports, which I pass on to my students when they are pertinent by including the website address in an announcement. They seem to enjoy it.

There are numerous ways to stay up to date on subject matter technologically. iTunes (iTunes U) offers thousands or more of podcasts (mini videos) on just about ever subject. Also, there are many RSS feeds that you can subscribe to in order to receive frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video on most educational topics. Most of these resources are free. Unfortunately, you will need to block out some time to attain the info. Also, when you run into a student that knows more about a topic or new technology, ask them to demonstrate to you and the class. That way you are all learners, and that's a good thing!

Hi Nathaniel,
Through constant reading, researching and talking with experts in the field.
