Learning Styles
Different Learning Styles? Ideas?
Carla,
Can you have students do some role playing or some other form of action while teaching a concept of grammar. I would have the students visualize and then act out what a verb is, a noun, etc.. Anything to get the rest of their bodies moving and interacting physically with the cognitive aspects of the course.

I am still trying to figure out how to incorporate different learning styles while teaching English comp.
Wow! That is a fabulous idea. I think I might use that for my next class. Thanks for sharing!!
I really try to make sure that I cover several different learning styles into each class period.
I had my students take a quiz to determine which learning style they were most comfortable with. We then discussed them in class and I gave each learner tools to use to help them study. This information also helped me to construct each class period in a way that would hit all of the different types of learners in the class. I often hear them refer to themselves as a certain type of learner, or they bring it up on occasion during class! I believe that they enjoyed learning this bit of information about themselves and have taken that knowledge and put it to work.
Hi Sonia,
There are four major categories of learning preferences or styles. Written word, auditory, visual and tactile. By offering instruction in all four of these you will be helping students to find their learning preference so their learning will be enhanced.
