Delivery of Content can make or break the class.
Organize the class content so learning is not confusing.
I would also add, have students learn key terms at beginning of each chapter before lecture. This will facilitate having more time for delivery of content.
I agree. I try to plan ahead by reading through the material to be presented and define the words for them and give examples if possible. I also try and motivate learning of the content presented by describing how the information will be used in the workplace environment. This usually helps get across the importance of the information.
I agree, too much information in the beginning can be overwhelming and create a frenzy, which is unnecessary. I present all of the information in the 1st meeting with the students and provide that information to them for review later. This allows them to review it and "digest" it early in addition, I reference the course materials when needed.
In each class period, I review the class activities, so they know what to expect.
To that I would add:
Define all new "buzz words" or nomenclature as they are encountered, and have a glossary available for students as well.
Don't jump around too much, keep it steady in one direction and don't go too fast so it's not digestible.
This is so important especially when you have a class that needs motivation. The content has to be interesting or you have to make the content interesting by your delivery. Creativity can play a great part in this particular piece of teaching.
