strategies

having good strategies help your students learn better because the assignment may be hard but they have the right concept to learn and so they will be able to lean better and understand the hard concepts.

I think having examples to describe the assignment is probably the best tactic I have to ensure my students understand the core of it.

I also think it helps to facilitate questions in class. I always ask my students if there are questions after I describe a project, and I encourage them to go ahead and ask even if they aren't sure. Now they aren't afraid to ask me anything, not matter how trivial the question and I feel there is a good flow of communication through the class.

I teach an IT class that teaches new students how to use Microsoft Office Programs (online).

One of the things that I like about the online environment and the class I teach, specifically, is that I have the opportunity to actually show them how to use the various programs. I think it is really helpful that I can actually pull up a program and walk them through the steps of how to use formulas in Excel, for example.

The assignments in the class are designed with the purpose of them practicing how to use these programs. I really like that.

What other strategies to people teaching in the online world feel are successful?

Strategies must be adaptable to new classes to achieve desired results.

Hi Cristina,
What are some of the strategies you use to help your students with their understanding of your course content?
Gary

I think having good strategies really helps your material enter and be understood by your students. As this section has said, there are numerous learning methods, so a good strategy would be to understand your material and what way it would be absorbed better, but also provide it in a different manner so that each student can absorb it in their own way.
