Lesson planning
Lesson planning is important so students can feel more at ease with the information
Hi Deterding,
Welcome to the profession of teaching. I wish you much success in your teaching career. The hardest part of your career is going to be the first class meeting after that it will get easier.
Lay out your course for the entire 12 weeks with your goals and objectives. The develop your lesson plans for the first 3-4 weeks as you mentioned. This way you will be able to adjust your delivery or content as needed based up the way the class unfolds but you will have the big picture scope of the class in your mind from day one.
Be flexible and human in your approach and you will earn the respect of your students from the start.

I will soon begin teaching for the first time in a career college setting. Is it advisable to plan your entire 12 week course before the course begins or to prepare 3-4 weeks at a time? Since I am new to the curriculum, the school and the students I feel that I will need to be flexible as we both learn.
Understanding how to utilize the instructional layout of the text and additional materials is the key to great lesson plans.
