Power Points
From my experience, less is more on Power Points. The less text the better. Power Points should be visual cues for you and your students... nothing more. Excessive text means they re writing and not listening to you.
agreed, and it helps them to be able to review the lecture and prepare for exam.
I also see Power Points as ways to help students study.
Hi Caroline,
I agree. PPs are intended to be educational support tools and should be used as such. By taking notes along with the slides the students get to reinforce the material in their memories.

I find PowerPoints, unless planned very carefully, can force an artificial sequence to my material and don't allow me to easily do dynamic diagrams. I find they are most useful when the slides are printed and handed out to the student for them to take additional notes on.
Agree! Power Points can be very useful when used the correct way. Too much flash and sound don't make it happen either. It is simply another teaching tool!
Hi Jeremy,
Right you are about PPs. They need to be planned for in a sequential way so they are not used as fillers but contributors to the learning in the course. In many cases they are used more as babysitters rather than educational tools.
