Repetition
In cuisine and pastry it is important that students be allowed/encouraged to practice as much as possible. This helps increase speed, quality of work, skills making them more employable.
Hi Teresa,
So right. The more students see connections and applications the greater their content retention will be.

Repetition is important to the learning process of students, it helps to gain confidence.
I have really good system developed for my class room teaching. I am teaching Statistics. I am teaching in career college. So i have students from all different age level and with different education level. Most of the students are working full time and then taking evening classes. So most of the time they don't have time to go through all material from previous class. My each class duration is four hours. I always spend first 35 minutes to review previous chapter and try to solve home word problems, if they have. So it will help all students to review the previous chapter too.
And not only that but this way i can involve all students in class discussion.
Hi Peter,
Right you are. I am sure that in your field this is even a bigger factor due to the terminology that is required by your students.

Repetition is very important as well as offering the same information in a variety of different ways to keep the students from becoming bored.
Hello Tod,
I feel that practicing something over and over again gives the student more confidence in performing a procedure of any kind.
Hi Karen,
Good point about repetition being a key part of the learning process for adults. To get them to concentrate for a period of time is difficult just as you mention due to the other pressures they have in their lives. By helping them with learning strategies you are giving them the support they need to continue forward in their career preparation.

Adult learners typically have there minds pulled in so many directions. With jobs, children, finances, and other responsibilities. After a period of time words just bounce off of them. Repetition games help get them involved so that more is retained and increase their interest in the subject.
Repetition and practice gives the student the confidence to understand the competency enough to realize when the task is going in the proper direction, or if corrections must be made to insure a positive result.
Hi Toshia,
Repetition is a powerful learning tool. The more variety we can offer our students in terms of repetition the higher their memory retention is going to be. Good way of introducing this to your students.

In massage we have to learn alot of muscles and what they do. I explain to my student's that it's like their favorite song that comes on the radio over and over again. They know the words to the song because they hear it repeated so many times and the same goes with learning. The more you do and say it the easier it is to remember.
