Keeping students on tract
I have found that by giving student several "mini" breaks it helps just be breaking the monotomy.
BYGINA,
Students like change of pace and variety in instructional delivery so it is important to offer both when teaching. Yes, they do like to be entertained and this can be done through stories, case studies, role playing, etc.. These activities will help to keep them engaged for the duration of the course.

I feel at times to keep the attention span of students, we at times have to entertain them in some kind of way.
When I see that the class is getting restless after having a long week I stop lecturing and give them time to read the material in the book and work quietly at their pace on class assignments.
Small breaks per hour of classroom does help the students attention span
Jane,
These breaks really do make a big difference. A change of flow, pace or direction gives them a chance to reset their brains, take a deep breath and reset their focus.
