Computer based learning

I teach a course where I have to give web based training as part of the curriculum. Sometimes it is very lengthy and my students get bored but because of my curriculum it has to get done in class. What can I do to help them feel more interested in what is going on?

Amy,
This is such a great strategy because it gets the students out of just the receiving mode and into the applying mode. For content to stay it needs to be seen as having value by students and these mini-lab activities are doing just that.

I also try to come up with 'mini-lab' activities to pull them out of that format and into research and discussion between class members as a whole or within small groups. This can help them apply knowledge and get re-interested in the subject matter!

Jarred,
Can you insert examples into your curriculum to break up the content sharing a bit. For example, share content for 15-20 minutes and then give examples of application about what has just been covered. Can you use small groups to problem solve web based problems common in the field? This is the approach I would take to keep the students engaged.
