How much time for adults for on hands is too much?

David,
Depending on the subject being taught. If it is a skill area then the more hands on the better. If there is a foundation of knowledge needed then spending 15-20 minutes on content and then time on skill development as needed is the right balance. By "as needed" I mean if the outcome of the class is a person skilled in a application field then the bulk of the time will be spent on developing those skill sets.
