Content Discussion
Minimally helpful information. Predominantly common sense.
MARK,
Glad you were able to pick up some additional information that will be of help to you as an educator. I have been teaching for many years and yet each time I have a professional development opportunity I learn something new that will help me to be more effective with my students.
As for the 4 hour block of time I can appreciate your situation and this is why we have broken our content and activities down to bite size chunks of learning to help you acquire the content while moving forward toward the completion of the course with learning opportunities being offered in short sequences. I wish you continued teaching success as you impact the lives of students preparing to create a future for themselves.

Much of the content of ED101 is a re-hash for anyone that has been teaching for some time. I did get some good info from the course. But as you have mentioned, adult learners have about a 15 to 18 minute attention span... and this course took just about 4 hours. A lot of us need this for professional development, and a 4 hour block of time is only found at home.
James,
Sorry to hear that you are not finding value in your professional development. I have taught for many years and I find that I am excited to learn new ways of being an even more effective instructor. I hope that you will have this opportunity as well as you strive to expand your instructional expertise and impact the career development of your students.

Frankly, my organization has forced us to complete these modules. I have sampled multiple course offerings to date and have found that none have brought any new light on any of the topics. They are little more than good logic. Please understand that I have multiple graduate degrees and these are proving to be a waste of my time. I would be much better served doing research or course coordination. I now have to complete them to receive credit, but the man-hours consumed fulfilling this obligation fall far short of being productive. I sincerely hope that is sufficiently succinct.
James,
Not sure what your comment means. Can you expand on this train of thought? Thank you.
