it would help me on how to present the information the the students

Easier relating to students. "Speaking" his/her language to fascilitate his/her learning.

Each stuent is an individual, has different preferrances, abilities, etc. Those are clues for me on how to present info so they get it.

I teach within a three week vocational program. I need to quickly evaluate the different styles of learning or you can tell your losing them. Without knowing the type of learners in your class you will never be effective.

Knowing students learning style really helps the student capture and integrate the information and required skills. Since each class includes all style preferences the same information often needs to be repeated in a variety of formats. My class tends to start out with lecture, power point presentation with a coresponding outline followed by video and hands on demonstration.Once class instruction is completed we are in lab daily I can present a variety of methods for completing tasks or adjustments to machinery allowing the student to discover which may offer the best solution or outcome.

So true, In our instruction we have 3 weeks to bring all learners to the finish line.We need to recognize which learns need what. After that we can shape there groups for the leaders of each group and the helpers so all can achieve as much as possible and be in the hunt at the end of each rotation.

Knowing what type of student you have can be helpful so that you, the instructor, know how to deliver the information to the students(s) in a manor that they can easly grasp the informationthat is put to them.

I believe that if we change our instructional delivery method often and use methods that will address the majority at least two learning styles at all times, we should be able to reach all learners. I believe doing this eliminates most types of 'learning disabilities' because it addresses the learning styles that are not 'mainstream' classroom. It also makes me a better teacher. However, I don't think it is necessary to test for learning style. We could just assess which instructional methods work best in each class .... as each class will be different.

The goal of teaching is to get students to learn so knowing how your student learn best is highly important. Knowing the learning styles will help guide the delivery method and provide for a more dynamic learning and teaching experience.

By knowing your students learning sytles we can insure reaching them. Some students seem disruptive but may learn in a different style than you are familiar teaching. It is up to the instructor to realize this and adjust accordingly.

Benefits of knowing learning styles will hopefully enable me to design deliver and demo material(lesson plan) that will be comprehended by all students within the class.

A teacher who can identify variable learning styles in their class can develop a curriculum in such a way that the entire class is able to learn and interact at the same time. This can be achieved for example in a cooking class, where there is a powerpoint on the sauce making method. The instructor is completing the demo and lectuing at the same time, in addition to writing on the board any key terms or facts and interjecting with questions for all students to answer.

you will be able to customize the program to suit the students abilities

A very well written response-thank you!

Susan,
By knowing the learning styles of our students, we can tailor our teaching styles to maximize the
effectiveness of our teaching activities. We will
be able to select the best teaching methods that
are more aligned with the learning styles of our students. This in turn will achieve better
student satisfaction in their learning as they
become more effective learners.

By knowing and understanding the different learning styles an instructor will never find themselves falling into a rutt, keeping the learning styles mixed. This prevents students from tuning out.

To be able to determine the learning style of your students allows you to make any adjustments needed to insure you have applied the tactics best suited to their needs.

it helps you to know if you have to adjust things for a different type of learning style so all the students benifit from the course.

Knowing your student levels can and will help in effectively setting up a learning style to help all students at differant levels.

Realizing that learning styles vary from person to person can make you a more productive teacher. At the same time you can engage the whole class instead of just a small portion.
