Learning styles
Being that I teach in the visual arts, I assumed that a majority of my students were both visual and hands on learners. I feel that I lecture more without visual aids. I found the first module helpful in realizing a new link to the students that I have not thought about. Nice program so far!
I agree that using visual aids in a classroom is great. I teach a auto program and when I can put a part of a car in their hands the eyes light up
like a Christmas tree. I am all for the use of visual aids.
I did the same....I used more audio learning for lectures because, so much of the class was already very visual and kinesthetic learning. However, I realize that delivering as many different strategies as possible is the best method.
Jason, you make some good points. We do have to take into consideration which type of learners are students are. It is imperative to recognize the various learning styles in order for our students to be as successful as possible. I find it necessary to diversify my teaching style in order to effectively reach all of the learning types within one classroom.
I agree, there is a definate bias within certain fields towards a specific learning style. BUT there are usually secondary learning styles that each student has that can be used effectivly as well.
All my students are visual and tactile learners but I’m now super interested in trying to connect to students through auditory learning styles. I really enjoyed this module.
I'm glad that you are finding the course useful, Jason!
