Recognizing the learning style of students
I'm not certain, but from all my years of experience in teaching, I believe the fact that I am left-handed, or right-brained, has been a plus in perceiving the different learning styles of students early in the term. It has been and continues to be the coolest part of my work. It allows me to think "on my feet" and modify my teaching style so I can stress the same points in different ways, and then ask for feedback. It is the most exciting part of teaching in my opinion!
Hi Robert- It really is exciting to see how well students react and get engaged when we teach to their learning styles! Best wishes- Susan
knowing the styles of learning just gives one more tools to educate with. The best part is when you can use them all and as you go through a lession while incorparateing them you can see the light bulbs coming on as you pass through each style.
Hi Jean - Thanks for your post to the forum. What an interesting idea! I wonder if your ability to determine learning styles and adapt your instruction easily is partly because you are left-handed and have been forced to adapt to the predominantly "right-handed" world?? Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
