Teaching Learning Styles

I especially like the beginning of the term to find out what different learning styles that are in my class. I ask every student what there preference is on learning, this feedback gives me a good perceception of what to expect from my class. This also helps me in planning my teaching strategies for the class.

Generally, I tend to take the assessment for learning styles verbally. Once I have it, I try to utilize visual, auditory and kinesthetic methods of instruction. Because I try to make sure that I cater to the needs of all students, I will rotate as needed. If I find that a major portion of the class does better when one particular style, I tend to utilize that style more often.

Hi Bill - Congratulations on the personal approach you use to accomodate your students' learning styles! Susan

The question of learing styles is part the introductory packet student get on the first day of my class. They get to keep everything except two pages one of which is contact information and the other is telling about themselves which includes learning styles. I then get to read through these as necessary before planning a lession and try to incorporate a few learning styles.
