as an instructor you must develop diffrent ways to present material to students because there are diffrent ways individuals learn the same material from same or diffrent instructor.

I always ask during the first class if they know what type of learning style suits them so I can prepare my lessons to cater to them.

Power point is very overrated, instructors should use all three learning styles when teaching to the students. For example I am a visual learner, if you just stand in front of the classroom and lecture I do not taking very much of the content.

That is correct most students a that are in the process of learning know which type of learning style they like. There are times a different method of learning can be introduced and they may like that way just as much. It just depends on the person and if they would like to learn something new.
