Learning Styles

An instructor should know the learning styles of the adult student population, to keep the students interested and engaged in class participation. With an adult class, there will be varieties of student ages, and with that, their individual learning styles. Knowing this information, the instructor should deliver a variety of learning styles to accommodate every student in class

I agree 100%. The class of students will not all have the same learning style. It is important to also, not just read from the powerpoint slides or straight out of the book. Mix it up a little bit. Show the students that you do understand the material as well as have various teaching styles to work from.

Hi Donna, Thanks for your post to the forum. Here is a survey that you can have your students take:

Hi Ava, Thanks for your post to the forum. Many adult students have never heard of learning styles. They are often surprised that they can benefit from studying in differnt ways. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Ideally that would be great for each student. But my classes are only 8 weeks. The last week is for finals. I am not sure I could gather the information needed to meet everyones needs.
Do you have a form developed that I could distribute the first day to get a feel for each students preferences?
