Teaching Massage and Bodywork techniques requires a demo client for most classes. Obviously the majority of massage students have a strong kinesthetic style and do very well once they can actually feel how something is supposed to be accomplished.
I have found additionally, that when I give them permission to stand up and move around during quizzes and tests they can access their muscle memory / positional state recollection of the material :).
We have also discussed Neurolinguistic Programming methods for intentionally creating those positional memory triggers when they are initially acquiring the information.

I am a photography teacher and it is crucial that my students get hands on experience with camera and lighting equipment. Ontop of that I take them on as many field trips as possible to get them in different situations. I want them to be able to use the equipment and be able to execute that knowledge in the real world. Plus, they get out of the classroom into a more stimulating atmosphere.
Hi Sherry, Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree that moving from classroom/theory to hands-on as quickly as possible is the best strategy!

I find it to workout better with hands on as soon as you can. Phlebotomist are all hands on, so better to get hands on sooner than later with medical supplies and learning how to feel a vein.

I agree, especially in when teaching classes in the medical field. Not only will this help those student's who learn better "hands on" but it better prepares all of the students what they will experience when they go out on their clinicals.

I incorporate the Payne-Rathmell Triangle Method in teaching mathematics in which all teaching styles are put into practice. The model of the method gives significant relationship with how students hear, read and interpret worded problems, how students represent the information in a structured procedure of solving worded problems(hand-out and been discussed ahead), in symbols, drawings, logical chart and how they can manipulate visual aids and tools to solve the problem. Students work in group so whatever is each learning style contributes to the problem solution.

I agree that students in general need hands on materials ex: Pharmacy Techs are taught to be confident with their equipement so demos are done quite frequently. Its also a good way to gauge the students with the familarity of the course work.
