Finding confidence in asking questions
I myself have never been good at forming questions to pose to others to help them find the answers within themselves. I think after this module, and some practice, i might be able to do this.
I agree Claudia and it also serves as a model for your students. They too learn to admit when they are mistaken.
I have on occassion actually made an incorrect statement accidentally. I will have students correct me in class and that does start discussion going. I think that they need to see that the instructor is human and not all knowing.
i also find using questions to start a conservation with students is hard. just having the right question is not enough having the next and next and one more after that is also needed. the questions need to make you think not just answer yes or no.
Sometimes the new may seems larger then it realy is.Its the motivation factor.
Your questions invite questions. Give the wrong info out on purpose and see if anyone calls you out. You can always apologize. It may break down some of the fear in the students to speak out.
Yes for many of us this module will offer great opportunities to improve our skills of asking questions that will get more students to participate in class discussions.
