THE QUESTION!
I HAVE FOUND THE ADULT EGO DOES NOT ALLOW MY STUDENTS TO ASK QUESTIONS WHEN NEED BE BUT THEN THEY WILL COME UP TO YOU AND ASK AFTER CLASS SOLO.
This happens all the time... These students are not comfortable in their surrounding or they are too self conscious.
Excellent idea Keith! I am going to use that technique.
Thanks for sharing!
Often times you can find a spot in your presentation to interject a "WHY". For example, "a ----- procedure requires you to test the component in this order" why is this important?
You have some great ideas,Keith!
Happens to me a lot. Everyone claims to have no questions, then when class lets out someone will come up with a question. Instead of calling them out, I say excitedly "wow, excellent question! Too bad the rest of the class is going to miss out on this one. Tell you what, do a little research on your own and see what you come up with, then we'll discuss it in the next class."
Every time that student comes into the next class excited and prepared and in the future they have more confidence to present their questions in front of everyone else.
I have ran into this as well, But this does allow the other stduents to learn form those question so to counteract this I have wrote these question down and bring them up in a class open discussion, I have found that this works well.
I agree! Maybe with some ideas from the CEU's we can get more questions!
My students do not like to ask questions in class either, but they will come up to me after class. I just think some of them are too shy or it is too embarrassing to them.
Try incorparating you own questions into the lecture to make it more interesting and get the students involved
