questions for instructing
I love using this technique for my students. Being in the Motorcycle Mechanics field I find the students are forced to use something they aren't used to using, their brains. Seriously, they don't think they need to in a trade school and that is just not the case. Troubleshooting is all about logic and problem solving. Without using this part of the brain they are seriously limited in the field to mundane jobs. The greatest leaders of our industry that these students look up to as heros and idols are excellent at problem solving. That is how they got there. I try to pound this into their heads and stress problem solving is helpful in all levels, from making a decision on how to understand a concept or principle to dealing with a potential customer and even keeping your job. There is not a place in this world, that I know of, that is problem free and requires no solving skills. While we are not an istitution that teaches this, I find that the questioning technique, when used right, helps them to understand and hone the skills of greatness.

The way I find that works best is thru repeatedly
doing it over and over.thats how young adults
learn songs today,by hearing it over and over.
This method has worked very well on those who just cant get it the first time.In a Vocational
school they are not in the shops but every other week . They need constant review.
I agree about problem solving. Our students will have to do this daily, whether working on a bike or dealing with customers. Well put Kevin.
