Questioning is hard work...

I've found creating a list of questions that fit the topic of the day to be helpful. I can use the list to select a question to start a discussion, rather than having to create the question "on the spot". This seems to work well for me and the only requires a small amount of prep time.

i agree with you I am also a go with the flow type person but it's because we do have such a diverse background that sticking to a guideline on paper will not work. Sometimes students amaze me on how the look at a problem and resolve it in a way i have not looked at and by allowing that to take place I believe makes for a for a more open learning enviroment

One thing that works for me is to take questions that students have asked and after they have been answered ,I will expand on them with more questions of my own. It seems to get the whole class involved.

Making a list of questions can work out fine but for me I am more of a go with flow type of guy. The students that I have are many times from many diverse backgrounds and often from different generations. What I try to do is taylor my questions to be relavent to both the subject material and their diverse experences. Many times I will even ask questions that they don't have clear answers to in an effort to jumpstart the though process in the right direction.

During my review of workstations, I will pause and ask question about the workstation while making sure that the question will direct their thought process toward a diagnostic process.

I agree with and use the method of writing the questions before class. As well as taking record of the questions and answers that evolves from the original questions. We then take that information in application to our lab activities when available.

Preparing questions before and giving thought to the answers you may recieve cna create a excellent discussion in the classroom.

I think making a list of questions for the instructors is a great way to start. I think it will also encourage the instructor to even refine those questions or even add more of their own.

We have created a question sheet for each lesson that can be used by any instructor teaching that class. Over the years a group of us have refined our question to better solicite correct answers from the students.
