Encouraging questioning teaches students to think critically. Presenting questions to the class creates an environment of collaboration and even competition to answer. If the students are encouraged to ask and answer questions during lecture models a positive critical-thinking environment. If they are encouraged to find answers to the problems posed in class, they will be more at ease having to problem-solve in the work environment.
Questioning students shows the learner good examples of questioning techniques. The more questions the student answers, the more skills the student will gain in the area of forming their own questions. By learning how to question, the student will better learn how to gather and assemble information and in turn, learn how to become more self reliant in the process of information gathering.
