What I have learned, is in the beginning of class i recap from the day before, then continue lecturing for that day and I summarize and always include a question and answer period.
Hi Brooke- I agree - that time for discussion is well spent! Susan
I have found between every topic I discuss in class is when I set aside time for discussion before moving on to another topic. And also have alotted time for questioning at the beginning of class before we proceed into other topics.
Organization, is priortizing is the same to me simply because if you priortize what is important , organization will follow.
Hi Glenn- Thanks for your post to the forum. I like your idea of getting the discussion going in class and then asking students to think about it and come back to discuss more in the next class. You must surely get some great conversations going! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I often will ask a question near the end of class which allows only a short time for discussion. And then will ask students to ponder it overnight and we start the next session continuing on the question.
my class is organized so that we have enough time for students to ask questions
