Questions
IT's always healthy to question students at the end or during lecture to keep them in check as well engaging the students, also for them to retain the infos.
I ask questions after every section I go over. It lets me know that they are understanding the material and it also gives them a chance to ask any questions they have.
When I get ready to start a new chapter I will put it on the board and give students at the end of class to write down at least 3 questions they want to know about the upcoming information. That way when I do my lesson plans I can make sure that I touch on the questions which most of the time will generate more questions in class as they are already familiar with the topic we then break down into small groups and get them to ask each other questions that they may not be clear on or want to know more about then their group will teach me what they have learned. This way I can tell if they received the information clearly.

Hi Shawn-You are wise to continue probing questions until you are certain that all your students understand the concept you are discussing. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I do question my students on a regular basis as I am engaged in a lecture. I have some students that still don't know the answers and have puzzled/lost looks on their faces indicating to me they are either not getting it or were not listening. My way of handling that particular situation is to keep probing with addition questions to review the covered materials until I am confident everyone understands.
