Underdstanding the correct responses for each question
Whenever we ask students questionsd in class wheither it is oral or written, after they have given their responses or written answers, we should explain to them as to why their response is correct or what makes it wrong. Students should not memorize answers but rather understand the answers to the questions.
Hi Robert- Thanks for your post to the forum. What you describe is critical thinking skills for our students. They need to learn to think critically and analyze information. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Agree completely. For a student to understand cause and effect, they should find meaning in the answers and explanations, as it is generally not effective enough to memorize answers alone. Understanding seems to aid recall more effectively than relying on memorization.
It is critical that students understand the questions and answers. This will help the student to retain the information learned in the class.
Hi Louella - That timely feedback is so essential!
Best wishes- Susan
