Keeping students engaged during discussion

Sometime it is hard to keep students engaged. I find it better to ask a few questions at one time and allow them time to think about their answer.

Hi Michael, Thanks for your post to the forum. You describe a nice flow of lecture, application and then discussion. Well done! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I like to give students some lecture, let them work and discover issues then discuss the issues with more lecture

Try this approach, use your lecture to speak on topics on the material your trying to cover. After each topic ask questions to get the students opinions, hence sparking discussions.
