Qestioning as a teaching technique

After my lecture I asked questions right away to make sure they get the right information. There are times that some students don't get it so I have to do all over again & I don't mind.

Involving and asking different types of questions allows the instructor the ability to evaluate each student more effectively. Also asking questions keeps the students interest and participation flowing.

To further explain the principles of addition and multiplication property of equality when students use short-cut procedures in transposition in a solution system involving equation (short-cuts which students learn before), questions like "Why can we do that short-cut procedure?" or Which principle of equality supports that short-cut? or "Can you explain how that procedure works?". Not only to reinforce feedback but I ask such questions for students to understand which situation each property could be applied.

HI Lani, Thanks for your post to the forum. That immediate feedback is very valuable! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

So, do I. The students enjoy seeing how much info they have retained in such a short matter of time.
