Questions

What is a good way to get a class to ask more questions?

Hi Shari, That is an effective verbal use of CATs! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

That is a great idea! I'm going to start using that suggestions.
I like to ask them, after our discussions, tell me one thing you learned in class today that you were;t aware of previously, and then I bounce that topic around the room. I do it in hopes they will pull from immediate recollection or clarify some confusion.

Hi Kristal, Good question! Often students are just too reserved to ask questions, even when they have them. A good way to break the ice is to require students to come to class with at least two questions either from their reading or previous in class work. ( It will also get them to do the reading!) Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career and Happy New Year!
