Questions
The information shared in this section was very useful. For example, when the instructor does not know the answer to a question from the student, simple state, I don't know; however, we will find the answer together.
Hi Ernest, Thanks for sharing a great example of this mistake! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Hi Jamie, Thanks for your post to the forum. I also like to team with the student who raises the question to see what we can both find. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I completely agree with this. As an instructor if a students asks a question you don't know and you try to fumble an answer you will can lose your credibility. I once was in a technical training class and a fellow class mate asked a very good question and the instructor pulled an answer out of the air. During lunch break the student looked up the appropriate material to answer his question and showed it to the instructor. I heard the instructor apologize to the student, but he lost his credibility as the content expert.
I have used this philosophy in the past (lying will only get you in trouble). I especially appreciate, however, the idea of turning the question to the student as well and finding an answer to discuss later. Definitely something I will use in the future!
Hi Mary, Thanks for your post to the forum. I'm glad that you've enjoyed this short course! Yes, students appreciate their instructor's honesty and it is a good example for them as well. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.
