Hi Scott. Unfortunately this does happen. Having tutoring services are essential when you have an open admissions policy. Many schools also offer pre-enrollment remedial programs to prepare these students for college level work. It's a real challenge.... Best wishes - Susan

I would value a real entrance exam here at my college. Our entrance exam is the SLE. I have viewed the results several times of our students. Some of the scores are considerable low. These students in most cases are the ones who can not pass certain classes because the material is beyond their capabilities at the time. It really puts them at an unfair disadvantage. Sometimes they can't graduate. However they still have the bills. The exam does not prevent them from entering our program as long as their financial aid is in order.
