Student assessment
I think they are very critical,if the student's doesn't understand how can they pass. This helps weed out the problem before you get to deep in the subject and lose a student.
Hi Lisa, Thanks for sharing an importnat point. We cannot be certain of our effectiveness unless we know the starting points of our students. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

In order to gauge how much students have learned, it is not enough to assess their knowledge and skills at the end of the course or program. We also need to find out what they know coming in so that we can identify more specifically the knowledge and skills they have gained during the course or program.
HI Shannon, Your assessment strategy is excellent - well done!

I will create multiple check points of understanding when a new topic is introduced. Introduction, explaination, and demonstration through examples is the first checkpoint. Homework and q/a session is next. A pop quiz over the topic will follow. A lab for practical application is next. And finally, an exam over the concept wraps it all up.
I agree- many times if I meet with students on afrequent basis to review their progress- I can give them helpful hints to improve on scores or study echniques- it lets them know that "I know"
To continously inform the students of their progress will motivate them to do better and give a sense of where there weakness and strengths are
Hi Tara, Exactly! We need to get information on student comprehension as frequently as possible so that we can adjust our instruction if needed.
Best wishes - Susan
