Testing

I do believe in giving study guides to a certain extent. I don't give them a study guide with the answers to the test or even word for word on the test. If they take good notes and review the study guide then that will help them with the test. I don't believe in giving them all multiple choice either. I do put some short answers on the test to make them think of the correct answer.

I completely agree with your statement. Students should not be given the answers in a study guide, its just as its name states a guide or outline of important topics/concepts that will be on the exam.

Sometimes, instead of a study guide- We play a game to recall information. I don't use questions from the test, but it helps to summarize the important concepts.

I also use all types of questions on my tests. I think this helps me better gauge the student's understanding.

Because I have to teach procedures, I also use essay questions that detail the key procedures that the students will have to recreate regularly.

I agaree that all types of questions should be on the tests. I use multiple choice and true/false questions. There are times that I also use laabeling if the student needs to know how something works.
