End of course testing

In our course the end of course testing consists of being able to set up a drum and a rotor on the brake lathe...this lets us know first...the student has been practicing using the machines like they are suppose to be doing and second....it tells us they are competent on using the machine which is pretty much the standard machine the student will use in almost any shop they go to work at....the other test they much complete is being able to disassemble and reassemble a drum brake assemble within 10 minutes...this lets us know once again that they practiced the techniques used and also are familiar with the proper tools needed to accomplish this task....both tests seem to work out very well for us.

Our EOP consist of the students completing 5 task they would typically see as an entry level engine builder. You can tell the ones who pay attention and get it but the ones that are just going through the motions don't do well at all.

We are using a 4 step EOC we test them on trainers which we started using from day 1 of the class and clips that we used in the labs they draw a random set of labs and have to perform them you can really tell the students that want to be there and the ones that dont along with the physical labs there are questions on the sheets that came from lecture they have to recall I think they enjoy the tests because it gives them a sence of accomplishment

i agree, we give students 30 minutes to do a general tune . this is more than ample time, and this tells us wich students want to learn and succeed in the feild, and wich students are just going for a ride..
