Encouragment & advise
These things work the best when we encourage students to ask for advise. Instead of butting in.
I agree and not butting in allows for other students to become involved in expanding on the topic and this facilitates an environment for all the students to participate in class discussion.
In what ways do you encourage students? I always try to say positive remarks both verbally and on their evaluations, but sometimes I wonder if it comes across as "phony".
I agree that encouraging and boosting student morale is highly undervalued. Their is already a lot of pressure on students to pass and not waste their money. We should help them believe so they can achieve.
I agree that students learn more by asking questions. Student questions are a central theme to my class.
The use of encouragment is highly under used. Students perform much better when the feel they have someone on thier side.
